Rest of Holidays

So i'm back, for good this time. No more driving away to random places like Dubbo and Broulee. While I was away, so many things happened that were worth blogging about that I wrote a list. So please be patient.

1. During the car trip down to Broulee, me and my brother created a game to play on long car trips called 'mullet'. Basically if you see a 'lad' car, you yell out 'mullet'. Here is the point system.
1 point= P-Plate
2 points= Thumping loud music
3 points= There is more than one lad inhabiting the car
4 points= The car is fluro
5 points= The car is damaged, i.e Large scratch, dent, etc.
10 points= The car illegally overtakes you, and gives you the finger whilst doing so
50 points= The car is being chased by the police

2. While in Broulee, we drove to a nearby country town, which had lots and lots of little vintage shops. Mum, my sister and I had a coffee in a little old bank-turned-cafe, and then went to check out the shops, where I FOUND MY SOCIAL DRESS (my year 11 formal dress). Its very 1950's- black lace and all, and I fell in love with is and got it. Yay me.

3. We visited my great-aunt, Aunty Vi, who is living in a retirement village near Batemen's Bay. She is 92, and I must admit I thought the visit would be boring, but by the time I walked out I was so emotional! Her husband was one of the Rats Of Tobruk, and when he came home from the war, he was never the same, and was really mentally disturbed. Aunty Vi got out his old war medals and told me how she burnt all the letters he sent her from the war so noone could ever read them.

4. I watched the movie 'Julie and Julia' and I LOVED IT. Very inspiring, especially as a blog-owner. It also has inspired my to cook, which leads on to my next dot-point.

5. I cooked these holidays! If you know me well you would understand that this is a big accomplishment. I cooked Chilli Con Carne (which turned out really, really spicy), and a banana split for desert. For easy cooking, my mum bought this amazing book by Donna Hay called 'Seasons', which you have to get.

6. I love this Russian Vogue cover

7. I also fell in love with this photo called 'War Torn'

8.I am SO HAPPY SPAIN WON!
When I was watching the news, this came on and it was so cute I nearly fell off the lounge.

9. Here is me feeding a Giraffe in Dubbo. Their tongues are a tad gross.

Newtown

Aaahh the joys of Newtown. After meeting up with my good friend from LA who eats cashew chicken without cashews, I found my new favourite shop. It's called Towers Antiques & Collectables, and for those who don't know Newtown its address is 539 King Street. For those who know the New Town, its a few shops up from the legendary Doytao Thai. Its a little antique store with the most amazing stuff. I found a 9 carat gold antique ring for $65, and you can also buy the owner's photographs that he took around the world for 50c. I know where i'm going to get presents for friends from now on.

ALSO ALSO ALSO
If you are ever wandering around Newtown go to the cafe next to the Dendy, and order an Italian hot chocolate. It's like a hot chocolate mousse, and you eat it with a spoon. Amazing.

PEE ESS:Sooooo I just got back from Dubbo but i'm going away again to Broulee, that beachy town me and the fam always go to. Bye!

OH EM GEE

So in Dubbo (which ended up being really really fun) I was telling one of the people we went there with how much I wanted to go the Glastonbury Festival to which she replied:

Oh, my sister got VIP tickets to it!

Yeah, it hurts.

On to a more lighter topic, I found this photo, or collection of photos in one photo, of all my style icons.

ALSO ALSO ALSO

When I saw Eclipse the other day, I loved loved loved the character Jessica's speech at their graduation....even though it's the Twilight Saga.
"This isn't the time to make hard and fast decisions, its time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere chill. Fall in love - a lot. Major in philosophy 'cause there's no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind. Then change it again, because nothing is permanent".

Dubbo.

Well, i'm off. To where? To Dubbo. Yes, Dubbo. Why Dubbo? Because my parentals think it will be fun. Fingers crossed. Farewell, internet, as I leave you to chill with the giraffes and elephants in central western NSW

A day filled with Net-A-Porter Goodness

When I get a credit card, i'm going to need to be handcuffed to a tree deep in the forests of Albania to stop me going on this site. If I had the money, I would seriously buy every single thing on this site and consequently blow all my money and go into a million and one dollars debt. Too many amazing clothes/bags/shoes in one place. Check it out, but be careful not to drool on your keyboard... www.net-a-porter.com

My obsessions on the heavenly site at present:

Macaroons

I saw these wonderful pieces of food on Masterchef, where the contestants tried (and failed, although I can't talk being the hopeless cook I am) to make a macaroon tower. This challenge made me have an epiphany.
I LOVE MACAROONS!
Not the ones on Masterchef (they were olive flavoured), but chocolate, strawberry and vanilla ones. I never thought I would say this but:
OMNOMNOMNOM

Here is a simple recipe for these heavenly delicacies for non-cooking types like me, who are better at eating the products of cooking than cooking them:
CHOCOLATE MACAROONS
2 cups white sugar
1/2 cups butter
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup milk
3 cups oatmeal
6 tsp cocoa

1. Melt butter and cocoa first (that way its smooth). Add milk and sugar.
2.Bring to boil over medium heat for 2 minutes. Add coconut and oatmeal.
3.Drop by tablespoonfuls onto wax paper and leave to cool.

Enjoy!

Love it.

Found this while procrastinating on my favourite blog in the whole wide universe. Jean-Pierre Timbaud, on the street in Paris, France. Click on it to make it bigger!

The Sartorialist (check it out- http://www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com) is the blog by Scott Schuman, AKA the pioneer of fashion photography in blog form.

In his own words:
"I thought I could shoot people on the street the way designers looked at people, and get and give inspiration to lots of people in the process. My only strategy when I began The Sartorialist was to try and shoot style in a way that I knew most designers hunted for inspiration"

The Spirit of Youth

Teenage rebellion comes alive in Billy Kidd’s recent portraits starring Hailey Clauson. I love how she looks so natural: her hair not done, not smothered in make-up, and in a basic white top and denim shorts. I think Billy Kidd has done a perfect job of capturing the emotions of being a teenager through these portraits. There are over 10 photos; I tried to choose my favourites but I loved all of them so I posted all of them!

P.S. I want her shorts, the ones with the pockets coming out the bottom? Me want.

HOLIDAYS

Around two days after Dad left for overseas,
THE INTERNET BROKE DOWN! Worst. Week. Of. My. Life. However, due to this lack of internet communication (i.e Facebook and Blogspot)I actually found my self having nothing else to do but school work! In between school work though I began re-reading the 7th Harry Potter Book, coinciding with the release of the trailer for the 7th MOVIE. I swear, the 7th Harry Potter book is not just a book. Its pure GENI-USSS!

Also, I checked out Eclipse, and for Twilight Saga standards, it was pretty good. The movie actually had a story line, and the characterizations were significantly improved. The special effects were pretty sweet as well. Oh, and Taylor Lautner is really, really, really x1000 sexy. Just sayin'

So Dad came back from America, which had me and the rest of the fam waking up at 5.30 to meet him at the airport...and to find out someone had died on his flight! All sadness aside, while waiting for him to arrive, it was so nice to watch the reactions from all the other families and couples and friends! It was just like the beginning of Love Actually...a little less dramatic though but cute all the same.

Then DAD came out, luggage in tow, and after a coffee at Edmunds and Greer, we came home where we all got AWESOME PREZZIES from the US OF A! Mum got pretty spoilt...MAC makeup, Chanel Perfume and a Tiffany and Co Bangle from South Coast Plaze in the OC...I got really awesome clothes from Forever 21 (My FAVE store over there) and lots and lots of Reeces Peanut Butter Cups, which, and to my horror, I ate ALL of them yesterday...

Here is the opening transcript spoken by Hugh Grant at the beginning of Love Actually. So sweet, even if it's spoken by Hugh Grant.

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world,

I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow airport.

General opinion makes out that we live in a world of hatred and greed

I don't see that.

Seems to me that love is everywhere.

Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy but it's always there.

Fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives,

boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends.

When the planes hit the Twin Towers,

none of the phone calls from people on board were messages of hate or revenge,

They were all messages of love.

lf you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.

Love Actually.

So there is my life story for you. Hope you enjoyed it :)

Thought these pics were cute.
Enjoy your weekend! x

I WANT TO TRAVEL.

But I to do this I need a job, and to do that I need to stop sitting around on my ass and actually DO SOMETHING.
Too. Much. Effort.
I have officially made a pact with myself that I have to see Muse and One Night Only at Glastonbury Festival on the Pyramid Stage before I turn 18.

Here is Muse's performance of Time Is Running Out. Insane to the membrane. Skip to about the 50 second mark. Amazin-k

Alexander McQueen- fall collection

Inspired by the 90s grunge age, the fall collection has an intriguing mix of pattern, color and texture. Here are some highlights from the McQ Fall collection lookbook:

I'm McLovin' this girl's hair...

New song from One Night Only, AKA George Craig

Great song; video clip a tad random; Emma Watson couldn't act to save her life...

Last post for the day, promise

The year after I finish school I am going to fly away to Glasto Festival in Somerset, the largest music festival in the world, gumboots in hand. Take a look at the schedule of bands playing at this year's festival (which is on right now) and you may want to join me.

P.S
I want this hand bracelet. Looks really cool on- half bracelet, half ring/s

Naw.

From the Sydney Morning Herald:
It is one of the most iconic images of World War II, an anonymous young sailor dipping a nurse backward while giving her a kiss in Times Square on August 14, 1945.

The photograph by a Life magazine photographer, Alfred Eisenstaedt, symbolised the euphoria surrounding the news that the Japanese had surrendered and the war was over.

Edith Shain, a retired Los Angeles elementary school teacher who claimed to be the mystery nurse in the photo seen by millions around the world, died of cancer on Sunday at her home in Los Angeles. She was 91.

''Someone grabbed me and kissed me, and I let him because he fought for his country. I closed my eyes when I kissed him. I never saw him.''

Emma Watson deserves to die. At school, I made up a list of why she does not deserve to exist in this world any longer.
1. She is gorgeous
2. She is rich (highest paid star in Hollywood 2009)
3. Face of Chanel and Burberry (and is BFFLs with Karl Lagerfield)
4. She is Hermoine Granger, and in the greatest movies OF ALL TIME
5. She is at an IVY LEAGUE UNIVERSITY, and not even because she wants a job in that field, it's because she's doing it for fun
6. Has AMAZING CLOTHES! Even though I she deserves to die, I will admit that her taste in fashion deserves an applause
7. Grew up in Paris
8. Is BFFLS with Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint
9. Has amazing hair

and finally, number 10, the key reason why she deserves to die:
10. SHE IS GOING OUT WITH GEORGE CRAIG! (if you are so behind in the times as to be unaware of who George Craig is, please refer to the blog post George Craig). Emma Watson could go out with any guy and out of all the fish in the pond she chooses my future husband. Smooth, Emma, REAAALL SMOOTTH

Oh, and they went together to GLASTO FESTIVAL. Yeah, the awesomest festival in the world in England, where I always talk of going when I eventually finish school. Emma Waton is officially ticking of my to-do list before I die. With style.

I do hate her, but her fashion really is amazing. To Glasto Festival, she managed to team a Louis Vuitton corset with denim shorts and the traditional Glasto Festival gumboots without looking like freak, she actually managed to fit in with the Glasto crowd.

I officially declare today a National Day of Mourning
