Day Eight

Day 08: If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
Definitely being so indecisive.....or maybe my addiction to a particular hot drink that starts with a C and ends with Offee.

I usually hate poetry, but today in English advanced we read and analysed the sonnet XIV by Elizabeth Barrett Browning...I love it. Unlike a lot of poetry, it actually makes sense, doesn't take a genius to understand it's meaning and isn't pretentious. For her time, the subject matter and her feelings that she is exploring is actually quite profound.

XIV
If thou must love me, let it be for nought
Except for love's sake only. Do not say
"I love her for her smile..her look..her way
Of speaking gently..; for a trick of thought
That falls in well with mine, and certes brought
A sense of pleasant ease on such a day-"
For these things in themselves, beloved, may
Be changed, or change for thee,..and love so wrought,
May be unwrought so. neither love me for
Thine own dear pity wiping my cheeks dry!-
For one might well forget to weep, who bore
Thy comfort long, and lose thy love thereby-
But love me for love's sake, that evermore
Thou may'st love on through love's eternity-

Woah. Intense.
