The Royal edition

CHLOE'S VERDICT:
-Mum made me wear a tiara for the entire 6 hours of tv coverage. Didn't end up being too traumatic.
-I thought that Kate Middleton looked absolutely perfect. The dress, the hair, the tiara- everything just made her look like a princess. Beautiful.
-Her sister looked amazingly stunning
-The page-boys were absolutely adorable, in particular the little blonde. Naawwwww.
-The music was perrrrrfect
-EVERYTHING ABOUT THE WEDDING WAS PERRRFECT
-When the million people outside Buckingham Palace were waiting all that time for the Royal family to come out on the balcony, the giant black gates dividing them, I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness and anger. These people are only 'royal' because they were born into the family, and those gates are stopping those 'commoners' from going into a palace which is paid for by their tax. Arrrghhhh we live in a progressive society! The royals are the definition of outdated and while I respect their history, it's really time to move on.

Now onto a moral dilemma which arose in the common room yesterday:
In assembly, one of the year 12s had a life-size poster of Justin Bieber for a prefect skit. After assembly, during recess, two year 10s appeared at the common room doors. They asked us if they could keep the poster, due to the fact that one of them is 'Justin's biggest fan'. We said no, because we wanted the poster for the common room. They left, and we posted it on the back of the door. 5 minutes later, the friend of the girl who was 'Justin's biggest fan', turned up at the door again. She said 'You know my friend who you wouldn't give the poster to? You made her cry. Can she please have it'.
I applaud the fact that she had the guts to return to the COMMON ROOM and challenge YEAR 12s. We told her that it was not our poster but our friend's who was not in the common room at that time, and repeated what we had said previously- that WE WANTED IT. If year 12s want something and say no to you, you don't come back. At least she knows now that crying doesn't get you what you want- I could cry saying that I want to marry James Franco, but that doesn't mean James Franco is going to come and propose to me upon hearing that I was crying.
After she left, Cindy said that she would have given it to her. I told Cindy that:
a) The poster looks great on the door (which it does)
b)We taught her that tears doesn't equal getting your way
c)Being obsessed with Justin Bieber is not normal, and she is now one step closer to getting over this abnormal phase
d)She is now more likely to get a boyfriend-Imagine if she brought a boy home to her room, and he saw that poster on her wall. He would be out of that room and her life as fast as Heidi Montag's chances at ever looking normal again disappeared when she made her self look like an alien.
I now pose you the question: Would you have given the year 10 girl the poster?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

CAN SOMEONE PLZ KILL ME KTHNXBI

The HSC Timetable came out today. Yeah....I HAVE TWO EXAMS ON THE SAME DAY. My law dreams are as over as Lindsay Lohan's chance at winning an Oscar.

I skipped going to the library this afternoon to come home to drink comfort tea and eat chocolate-chip hot cross buns in a sad attempt to make me feel better. They tasted good, but what really cheered me up was when Mum came home with new fluffy slippers for me and new Bonds Hi-Tops. Weeeeeooowwww. MY FUTURE LOOKS MORE PROMISING NOW. Thanks Mum.

I'm kind of glad these holidays are over. For the first time ever, I woke up feeling excited to return. Even though I didn't go away these holidays and I spent about 90% of my time at the library, a few things happened that I needed to spend some time thinking about but I've come out of the holidays feeling really optimistic about life....sounds cheesy but it's true. No more singing 'All By Myself' and sleeping on the common room couches all day.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while...I've been really busy but I've been Tumblring because it's less time consuming, so keep checking that out. Here are some thoughts:
1. I am completely anti-monarchy and pro-republic, however I am really sad and confused to admit that I am excited about the royal wedding. Mum excitedly told me that she's buying pretend crowns and is cooking a special dinner for our family to have during the wedding- a family 'party'. What absolutely disgusted me was The Chaser boys being banned from getting footage from the wedding. Like seriously, the Royal Family need to take a few chill pills and stop taking themselves so seriously. It's not like they do anything for Australia anyway.
2. It really used to get on my nerves, but I was listening to the radio on the train this morning and the song 'Price-tag' or whatever it's called came on....I like it now. It's catchy and the lyrics aren't super shallow like everything else on the radio.
3. Matt Bellamy is engaged to Kate Hudson....she better not ruin the chances of Muse playing at Glasto next year (which I am determined to be at)
4. I hit 5000 words for 4U English. What of it brah.
5. I'm completely obsessed with this cover of Punching on a Dream. LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN. You will lurve.
6. I AM SO SORRY TO ALL YOU PENPAL-ERS. STILL HAVEN'T REPLIED. I LOVE YOU ALL BUT I'M JUST SO LAZY AND FORGETFUL BUT I'LL DO IT THIS WEEKEND!

Yarrrrr me hartie

I wish I was a pirate. I don't really know why I want to be a pirate, I just do.

So I haven't posted in a while. Why? Because I'VE HAD SO MUCH FOOKIN SCHOOL WORK I HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO DO EVEN MORE WRITING.
Here is a list of updates on the life of Chloe:

  • Library
  • Library
  • Library
  • Party
  • Library
  • Party
  • MET GEOFFREY ROBERTSON (you won't appreciate this unless you do legal studies...he's my legal idol)
  • Library
  • Ate pork buns (that's where all my money goes, coffee aside)
  • Library
  • Wallowed over the fact that Dale Thomas might be leaving Collingwood.
  • Library
  • Finished off the Irish Breakfast teabags
  • Library
  • Became addicted to The Naked and Famous. Listen to this  and this and everything else they've ever recorded
  • Watched the latest Glee episode on the internet. Disappointed. Even by Glee standards the story-line is becoming stupid
  • Library
  • Started exercising again and feel soooo good. I went for the longest bike-ride ever yesterday, and although I thought I was going to die going up a few hills, I felt amazing after. Problem is I forgot to stretch afterwards and woke up this morning stiff as a brick. Walking downstairs was quite painful to say the least
  • Library
  • Freakin' OUTTTT about school returning. At least I get to see my friends everyday again. And see the coffee couple every morning!
  • Library
  • Tumblr
  • Tumblr
  • LIBBBBRAAARRYYYYYYYY
  • It's Easter tomorrow
  • Library
  • Yeah, so I think I spend more time at the library than my actual home nowadays. Some of the people who work there are so neurotic and just need to ccchiiiillll. I was in the quiet study section out the back with my coffee, and I walked outside with it to get a book, and as I walked back in a librarian came up to me "sorry, no coffee in this area". I replied "Oh ok, I'll just put my book down on my desk and then finish my coffee outside". So I put my book down on my desk, and then as I was walking out of the quiet study area to finish my coffee, the librarian pulled me over to show me a sign which said NO HOT DRINKS IN THE QUIET STUDY AREA and said really loudly   "There is to be no coffee in the quiet study area". I said "Ok! I get it!" and then he says "I'm not being rude". I said "Ok...I get it...I'll finish my coffee outside". Dear Mr. Librarian: Firstly, I do not understand why we aren't allowed hot drinks in the study area, but in the area where all of your books are. If we're allowed hot drinks in one place, with the risk of knocking it over and landing on paper, wouldn't you rather it be our paper and not yours? Secondly, all you had to say was "No coffee in the study area!" You didn't need to continue on for an extended period of time! TAKE A CHILL PILL BRO!
  • I've decided that I actually really, really need to start saving for a ticket to London when I finish school. Not only to go to Glastonbury Festival (the line-up for this years is AMAZING, even though Muse isn't there), but also to go to George Craig's new club CLUBLAD.
  • This came up on my homepage on google for Youtube's top rated video of the day. I had nothing better to do, so I clicked play. I ended up getting hooked and watched the entire thing (it goes for 16 minutes). It is so so so so so good. Watch it now or when you have time! CLICK HERE

HOLD MA SHIT

All throughout this past week I've been saying to myself how I should give my blog a break for these holidays and just go outside and get off my computer, but I just couldn't neglect you for 2 weeks and 3 days. So here I am. I'm going to write today's post in dot-points:

  • Waking up this morning to this weather was the best thing that has happened to me this week. It was absolutely pouring, and I don't think anything beats waking up in your warm double bed with a massive quilt, looking at your window which has water pouring down it. When I eventually threw myself out of bed I was to discover that Mum had bought coffee from Edmunds and Greer for meeee! So. Good. (until I took the lid off to lick off the foam and it spilt all over my ugg boot)
  • I went to a community fair (to get out of the house and enjoy this rainy weather), and at a book stall I came across a coffee-table book which is basically an old collection of pictures of London. It was only $1 and it's now sitting on my bookshelf.
  • I want one of Clinique's new chubby sticks (they're like crayons but for your lips :o) sooo preeetttyyy

  • I came across this amazing paragraph:  It's easy to get caught up in what could have happened, but the truth in the matter is that what happened yesterday, last year, or a minute ago is all history. History is written down in textbooks, journals, and diaries, it's not meant to stay in your mind forever. So. True.
  • I'm going to a friend's rave next week and I need costume ideas- the theme is basically sports/recreational activities
  • I WANT GUMBOOTS. I think I'll get plain black ones from Sportsgirl
  • I've also decided I'm going to buy a fur coat (a fake one duurrr) for winter
  • I have soooo much work to get through this coming week. I've been going to the library regularly and have somehow managed to get a significant amount work done, but I'm still only a fraction of the way there....fun fun.
  • I really hate it how my parents' generation assume that because they see one/a couple of children or teenagers be inconsiderate or badly behaved in public, our entire generation is like that. I've seen plenty of incredibly rude older people but I don't assume that their entire generation shares those characteristics. I also think that they should keep in mind that they are the generation who raised us in the first place, and that they are also the generation who have created just a few problems with the world, problems which our generation is going to suffer the consequences. We're still young, so older people should really stop having a go at us.
  • I'm soo so so so so sorry to the pen-pal peeps- I honestly keep forgetting to reply. I don't think you're all pedos/terrorists!
  • I think that Topshop coming to Sydney will absolutely diminish its appeal....

Cool beans.

The past few 24 hours have been of the above-average sort. Allow me to explain:

  • Watched The Princess Diaries for the first time in YEEAARRSS. Just as good as I remembered.
  • Got SO MUCH work done at the library this morning. I had coffee at a little cafe up the road, then sat outside until the library opened, went inside and to sit down at a table, and didn't move for about 3 1/2 hours. YEAH WHAT OF IT.
  • Went shopping and bought an amazing top which was reduced to $2. TWO DOLLARS. TWO. DOLLARSThat's what you get in return for spending lots of time painfully bending your back whilst filing through the bottom racks.
  • Had the pork bun of my LIFE
  • Got locked outside for a couple of hours, but ended up having a nice bonding session with my dog
  • And I am now currently enjoying a perfect cup of tea.
I just came across this aaammaazzinng video. I've now watched it about 10 times.

ZOMAGAWD

IT'S HOLIDAYS BRAH.
I've officially drafted 'Chloe's To-Do List-Holidays Edition', and it consists of over 20 things that I have to complete before school goes back. Lucky I have friends to keep me sane....
Friday night was reasonably spontaneous. Cindy, Phoebe and I went to an under 18's dance party, and we left after an hour, where we then wandered around Hurstville. In one random Chinese grocery store they were selling jelly fish. I now know what I'm getting my friends for their birthdays.
We found this spot up on the roof-top car park, where in the distance you can see the city skyline all lit up- even though the surrounds were fairly industrial is was so beautiful.
Last night I went out to Eleni's dad's surprise party which was held at a beautiful place on Cockle Bay Wharf. I got lost on my way, and when I eventually found the place, I walked up to the entrance and almost bumped into Eleni's dad...if he had seen me it most likely would have ruined the whole 'surprise' element...I literally SPRINTED in the opposite direction, which was a relatively difficult task due to the height of my shoes.  It ended up being such a great night, with a delicious four course meal and THREE birthday cakes. Seeing a group of middle-aged women ripping up the dance floor to The Presets was pretty inspiring to say the least. Towards the end of the party fireworks went off on the water, so we all ran outside, and it turned out to be one of the most amazing firework displays I have ever seen. I actually put down my camera and enjoyed the moment.
Today I slept in until my little brother woke me up, and was dragged outside by Mum for a walk which ended up being very enjoyable. We went to Edmunds and Greer (no sign of Ms Cooke, thank god) and had coffee and macaroons, then walked around the golf course with the dogs. I realised that I really need to get fit again! I've become waaayyy to lazy.
I've also come to realise that I have an obsession with pictures of locations. Phoebe pointed this out to me after noticing that just about all the photos on my Tumblr are of places. Here are some of my favourite photos of late:

NEARLY THERE

After tomorrow I am officially on holidays. This term has been so long and drama-filled that I am so glad that I now officially have time off to recuperate. I'm not going away, so it will be nice to stay local and just chill. That said, I have an enormous to-do list.....but I'm sure I'll find plenty of time for socialising...I've been pretty much deprived of it since exams.

Updates on my life:
  • I played hockey today against a South African hockey team and DREW! WOOOOO! All of the girls were so lovely and we took them back to the common room where they took photos of our 'hot wall', had photos with our disgusting fridge because they thought that it was funny, and played for us their 'party' music. It was actually insanely cool...kind of like African dubstep?
  • I completed and handed in my extension history draft....so so so so so so so so so glad it's GONE. I literally said to my teacher 'TAKE IT!!!!' because I needed to get rid of it.
  • Tomorrow night I'm going to some random rave....should be a good start to the holidays?
  • I love One Night Only's song they've done for Coca Cola's international ad campaign. Each year a band is selected for the campaign which is based around Coke's jingle 'Open Happiness'. George Craig is sexier than ever....just saying. It's just one of those songs which makes you feel HHAAPPYYYYY. I turned into one of those pathetic teenagers dancing in the clip. Click here to watch it.
  • One the things I want to do these holidays is to take a photo exactly like this.....

Day Eight

Day 08: If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
Definitely being so indecisive.....or maybe my addiction to a particular hot drink that starts with a C and ends with Offee.

I usually hate poetry, but today in English advanced we read and analysed the sonnet XIV by Elizabeth Barrett Browning...I love it. Unlike a lot of poetry, it actually makes sense, doesn't take a genius to understand it's meaning and isn't pretentious. For her time, the subject matter and her feelings that she is exploring is actually quite profound.

XIV
If thou must love me, let it be for nought
Except for love's sake only. Do not say
"I love her for her smile..her look..her way
Of speaking gently..; for a trick of thought
That falls in well with mine, and certes brought
A sense of pleasant ease on such a day-"
For these things in themselves, beloved, may
Be changed, or change for thee,..and love so wrought,
May be unwrought so. neither love me for
Thine own dear pity wiping my cheeks dry!-
For one might well forget to weep, who bore
Thy comfort long, and lose thy love thereby-
But love me for love's sake, that evermore
Thou may'st love on through love's eternity-

Woah. Intense.

Lesson in life

A wise man sat in the audience and cracked a joke. Everybody laughs like crazy. After a moment, he cracked the same joke again. This time, less people laughed. He cracked the same joke again and again. When there is no laughter in the crowd, he smiled and said: "You can't laugh at the same joke again and again, but why do you keep crying over the same thing over and over again?"

DAY 7

Day 7: Choose lyrics and explain why you chose them
"Let's conspire to re-ignite
All the souls that would die just to feel alive"

I chose these lyrics for no other reason other than for you to read them. After hearing lyrics on the radio such as 'Baby, baby, baby oh', sung by artists who don't even write their own music and have no idea what the hell they're singing about (such as a 15 year old boy singing about love and a 13 year old girl singing about 'going down'), listening to the lyrics that I have posted above remind me that there are still those rare bands whose lyrics have meaning and are, in a way, actually quite poetic. Not just random shit that rhymes.

Today I am following Jane Austen's wise words. "Ah! There is nothing like staying at home, for real comfort." I'll go outside to get some fresh air, maybe even head over to a local art and craft show, but for the majority of the day I'm going to be inside in my trackies and drinking English Breakfast Tea. Sounds good to me.

Day 06

Day 6: Who is your best friend?
Nyeehhhh I don't really like talking about/listing my close friends in questions like these. It makes me sound as though I'm really exclusive or something like that.
Today I suffered for a cause. Our school hockey team versed another 'nerdy' school and we thought we would do ok, maybe even having a chance at winning....yeah...we were wrong. Very wrong. The score? 14-0.
I was defending and a huge, built girl wacked the ball as hard as she could at the goal, and my leg got in the way of making the score 15-0. It's beginning to go a bright shade of purple...it looks kind of pretty.

This weekend my schedule consists of:
History extension
Coffee

I'm in love with this song. Shoooo cuuttee.
