Eurovision

Even though I didn't watch this year's competition (yep, I know I'm terrible), I found myself re-watching old favourites. I think that there are two performances that perfectly sum up Eurovision:
1. Ukraine's 2007 entry. If the term 'WTF' was a video, I'm pretty sure this would be it. Everything about it screams Eurovision. The glitter. The music. The crazy costumes. The absolutely incredible randomness. Click here to watch it!
2. France's 2007 entry: I genuinely cannot watch this performance without clutching my stomach due to the pain as a result laughing so hard. The two main guys are just pure gold, and the guy in the pink suit is an absolute LEGEND. Everything about this video is just hilarious... Eurovision spirit at its very best (and SO catchy...). See below.

The Hunger Games.

I finished The Hunger Games. Despite my early cynicism, it ended up being really good. Like really, really good. As in I nearly cried at the end, and after I had finished it I found myself YouTube-ing 'Katniss and Peeta kiss" just to see if the movie version reached my expectations. It did. However, a fundamental problem remains: Everyone has seen the movie so I have no-one to see it with. Awks. I guess I'll go by myself and embrace my forever-alone-ness? Cry with my coke and popcorn and all that.

REASONS WHY I WOULD FAIL AT THE HUNGER GAMES:
1. I would scream and run in the very first second. I'm scared of the movie Scooby Doo 2, so you can imagine my reaction to being placed in this situation. When it comes to fight or flight, I'm a definite flight gal, so instead of attempting to take some resources from the bucket at the very beginning (this won't make sense if you haven't read it/seen the movie), I would run in the opposite direction and thus have no food/resources whatsoever.
2. I have absolutely no skills, meaning that I wouldn't be able to hunt, meaning that I wouldn't have any food.
3. I have terrible reflexes.
4. I'd be lured into deceptive 'alliances' because I'm the most gullible person to walk on this planet. If a fellow competitor offered me to stay in their cave for the night, chances are I wouldn't realise they wanted to kill me and instead think "omigawd someone is nice around here!! We can be friendzzz n gossip about da hotties in da competition and play truth or dare <3 <3". I'm so gullible that my friend once told me that researchers discovered that an octopus isn't an animal but two jellyfish mating. I believed them. Not exactly the high point of my life thus far.
5. I'm picky with food...I would only dead squirrels if I was a minute away from dying from starvation..
6. No coffee. Enough said.
7. I would be distracted by attractive guys in the competition. I'd be thinking something like "WOW he looks just like Francisco Lachowski...I'd tap dat" when WHAM an arrow goes through my head.
8. I wouldn't be able to kill anyone, and if I hurt someone I'd run to apologise and then they'd stab me in the back.
9. I wouldn't be able to handle being filmed all the time for TV. Not because it's an invasion of personal space, but because I'd be constantly fixing my hair/adjusting my clothes to look good on TV. This is an issue of high importance.
10. I'd put a 10th reason but I think the ones listed above are more than enough to convince you that I wouldn't last a second.

I will now leave you with a video that made me laugh a lot. I want a fainting goat.

GREAT GATSBY TRAILER

CANNOT CONTAIN MY EMOTIONS!!?!!! Why is everyone criticising it (I'm pointing at you, Phoebe)? UMM IT LOOKS KIND OF FREAKING EPIC?!!! All of the castings are perfect, and I was SO surprised as to how amazing Carey Mulligan is as Daisy! Can. Not. Wait.

On a sadder note, I have some a sad story to tell you about (that was a great sentence). It involves over-due library books and the end of my love for my university's library. Yes. I'm talking about library fines. My relationships with libraries are like marriages. I get the library card (marriage ceremony), and we have the 'honeymoon period' where I skip around in a dreamy haze borrowing books that make me look smart and make a pack with myself that I'll read them. Two months pass and they're sitting in the same spot I dropped them when I got home from the library, and a month after that I get the email telling me that they're overdue. We end bitterly, with me hastily returning the books and running off so I don't have to pay the fine, which in turn means that I can't go the library again at risk of being murdered by a librarian (i.e. divorce). That's my current situation with my local library, and I vowed that for my university's library  I would return the books I borrowed for my assignments BEFORE THE DUE DATE. Being me, I didn't. I'm the type of person who only does things when I'm made to, and this is the perfect example. I thought my university library would be like my high school library where you just can't borrow anything until you've returned the overdue book (no fines involved). I was horrifically wrong. A day after my overdue notice for 13 books I borrowed for a couple of assignments, I get an email with the subject 'Library Invoice', stating that I owe $3 for each book (and I had 4 more overdue books that I hadn't returned yet. There goes my love for that library (and the money I was going to buy a Ramones hoodie with...).

That was a long paragraph. I am now off to read The Hunger Games (I'm currently reading it so I can tell my Mum if it's appropriate for my 12 year old brother to read). So far it's OK, but the way she writes is kind of like a year 10 creative. Nevertheless, I was so absorbed in it that I nearly missed my station on the way home, and leaped out of my seat to run out the doors at the last second like an idiot. I bet I looked really cool.

Things on my mind (ft. Downton Abbey)

1. Season 2 of Downton Abbey starts on TV tonight. To say that I'm extremely excited would be an extremely extreme understatement. Matthew Crawley in uniform. Need I say more?
2. I need to get something off my chest. Two nights ago I turned on the TV and was informed of the most atrocious news...three of the original Wiggles are leaving...and the worst part is...ONE OF THE NEW WIGGLES IS A GIRL. I actually feel very, very strongly about this. It's just wrong. Plain old wrong...having a female Wiggle is like having a male Spice Girl! It's going against nature!
3. I was watching the movie Ratatouille while babysitting (one of my all-time favourite movies), and I heard a beautiful song playing in the credits. When I got home I Googled 'French girl song Ratatouille movie' and to my surprise I actually managed to find the song and have been listening to it on repeat ever since. It's called 'Le Festine' by a singer called Camille. Click here to listen to it-I can guarantee you that it will make you want to move to Paris.
4. Tomorrow I'm handing in my last two essays for the semester...party time!
5. I'm thinking about starting a blog devoted to traveling stories/suggestions/all things travel related. If you have traveled to places that you think other people should experience, can suggest some cool places for people to visit if they happen to be in your hometown, have amazing travel photos, or would just enjoy writing about anything else that's travel-related, hit me up! Send me an email (to the address listed in the 'Contact Me' page up the top of this blog!). I look forward to hearing from you cool cyber peeps.
6. I scratched my BlackBerry yesterday and nearly cried. I'm talking about a fat scratch down the screen. KARMA Y U H8 MI SO MUCH!??

I am now off to cry over my two assignments due tomorrow. At least I am finally free as of tomorrow (well, until exams start. Let's just pretend for now that they don't exist).
Hope you all are having a splendid weekend. I'll leave you with this video.

Ramblings of an excited teenager...

So I was going to write about it (the exciting news) yesterday, but I decided that I'd save it or today once I had the in-person meeting to confirm things. The exciting news is....drumroll please...I GOT AN INTERNSHIP! It's at an amazing advertising agency in Sydney, and I'll be going in twice a week! I went to the office today to confirm details, and can I just say that their office building is by far the COOLEST BUILDING EVER. The reception looks like they must've built a time machine and copied and pasted a reception from the future. I am so so happy and lucky that I've been given this opportunity, especially seeing as though I'm only (kind of) fresh out of high school! I'll keep you all posted on how it goes! This opportunity made me think of a quote by Walt Disney that came up at the end of Meet The Robinsons (I was watching it while I was babysitting last week...one of my favourite movies). He said "Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and keep doing new things, because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths".

Other things for me to write about and you to read:
1. My Aunty and Uncle are moving to New York in six weeks. I don't think you need me to tell you where  I'll be spending a large portion of my end of year break.
2. The Big Ben's Twitter (yes, the Twitter of London's landmark clock) actually makes my life. He tweets really...deep and meaningful stuff. Click here to see it...I can honestly guarantee that you won't be disappointed.
3. Lots of good TV this week...Masterchef is heating up (see what I did there!? Aren't I punny!?)...Live Shows on The Voice (Laykn can just marry me now)....SEASON TWO OF DOWNTON ABBEY....TOO MUCH EXCITEMENT TO HANDLE...
4. I have two assignments due next Monday, both of which are worth FOURTY PERCENT! It should thus come as no surprise to you that this week's To-Do List is called the 'WEEK OF DEATH/TORTURE/DOOM  EDITION'.
5. Today my friend informed me of some amazing, incredible and quite insanely [insert synonym for amazing] news: Anyone who is called Chloe got a free giant Boost Juice today! I got my big Blueberry Blast, and Phoebe borrowed one of my ID's to claim a free juice at another Boost. Oh the benefits of having an identical twin...
6. I've nearly finished Brideshead Revisited and it was as amazing as Phoebe made it out to be...if not better!
7. Along with a proper present, for my brother's 12th Birthday Phoebe and I bought him some scratchies...AND HE WON $3. Coolness. When my Grandparents called up to wish him happy birthday, they asked him what presents he got. Instead of telling them about the new bed that Mum and Dad gave him, he said "SCRATCHIES!".
8. Dakota Fanning looked incredible at the MET Ball... She's so elegant and naturally stunning (I'll admit this despite her stealing my birthday..23/2/94 twinzz). Click here to see a picture if you're interested!
9. This recent cold weather has been incredibly nice. So much love! I'm actually not being sarcastic-cold weather is my favourite! I love wearing knits (a definite weakness whilst shopping...knits steal a lot of my money), beanines and scarves! And my pink fluffy dressing gown. And my Angry Birds slippers (at home of course...).
10. I want to get a team together to run the entire City2Surf race like Phoebe does in Friends. If you're interested send me an email! If you haven't seen Friends before/can't remember how Phoebe runs, click here!

Until next time,

Prepare yourselves....

For a mega post tomorrow. I was going to update tonight, but I'm extremely overtired due to the fact that I was babysitting from 6.50AM this morning. Yes, I survived to tell the tale. I have a lot of stuff to share with you guys, including some characteristically random ramblings and some news which is kind exciting!

I am now off to overdose on Strawberry Fruches and watch High School Musical 3 in bed. Sounds good to me (I know I'm a really cool 18 year old watching High School Musical 3 on a Saturday Night).

Until tomorrow,
Chloe x

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU...(get it!?!?)

I know it's now the 6th of May, but let's just pretend it's still the 4th of May so it's appropriate that I made that the title. I made that my status on the 4th of May, and I thought that I was funny and original only to scroll down to see that every Bob and his mother had also made it their status. Awkwardness.

I have a list of highly important things that I need to get off my chest:
1. I am finally, FINALLY free from Archaeology (except for another in-class, but it's ages away so let's pretend it doesn't exist). I was so nervous about that exam that I had last week-I hadn't completed a test since the HSC, and it was my first every uni exam so that nervousness was doubled! When I walked out I went to throw all of my notes up in a highly dramatic manner, only to remember that I still need those notes for another in-class test in a couple of weeks. You are now free of my lame Archaeology puns until June the 6th!
2. I am actually in love with Lakyn Heperi from The Voice. His audition was literally incredible, and I have been listening to the recording of it on repeat for the past week (I reblogged the recording on my Tumblr for you Tumblr kidzz). It's a cover of Kids by MGMT...and to top it off he looks like he could be Cedric Diggory's twin! Click here to watch it. He's so beautiful/talented it hurts!
3. So Masterchef starts again tonight...God help my soul! Masterchef, oh how I have missed you and your amazing foody-goodness. My friends should be currently preparing for yet another season of my million and a half Masterchef-related statuses.
4. I realised this week that the existance of 'Mochas' really HITS MA NERVE. PLEASE JUST DECIDE IF YOU WOULD LIKE A HOT CHOCOLATE OR A COFFEE. THANKYOU AND GOODNIGHT.
5. I'm thinking about adding a 'Play List' page this week along with the other tabs at the top of the page. It'll have my favourite songs for every mood and season (if you couldn't care less just pretend it doesn't exist)! It'll take a while to compile the list, but hopefully it'll work out!
6. Eleni reminded me that I promised to post my ultimate dinner party list a (long) while ago! I completely forgot (vintage Chloe), and I shall dig out the sheet of paper that I wrote it on, type it up and post it!
7. I saw this picture of Alexa Chung, and upon getting paid I sprinted to the nearest shopping centre and pretty much copied the outfit. I am in love with the style of boots she's wearing and managed to find the exact style that she's wearing (for probably a quater of the price!).

Expect more posts this week due to the fact that after I hand in my History essay on Tuesday, I'll be free of assignments for quite a while!

Hope you all are having a splendid weekend,
ChlobeWan
