RANT.

I have two things to complain about today that both involve places where you eat food:
1. I was at a cafe the other day and the lady at the table next to me GOT OUT HER NAIL FILER AND STARTED FILING HER NAILS. Ewwwwww. Need I say more? WELL I DO! Not only do I not want nail dust in my muffin or on the foam of my coffee BUT THE SOUND OF NAIL FILING GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS AND MAKES ME HUNCH MY SHOULDERS IN DESPAIR!
2. My friend and I went out for dinner on Friday night and it was then that I had the shocking realisation of HOW HARD IT IS TO GET A TABLE IN SYDNEY ON A FRIDAY NIGHT! I hope my excessive use of capitals emphasises how annoying it is. First up we waited twenty minutes in a que for Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurant, and when we got the the front of the line we found out that that is the part where you give them your details and come back in AN HOUR AND FORTY FIVE MINUTES! We then went to Mr. Wongs to be told that we'd have to come back in an hour and a half. After being rejected twice we ended up at Fratelli Fresh which is amazing and ACTUALLY HAD ROOM FOR US! I don't really get this whole 'no bookings' trend-it's just a big phat pain in da ass.

In other news, my birthday is on Saturday. Yepp, no longer the big one-eight. Oh, and in other news, I AM WORKING ON MY BIRTHDAY! The whole day #woo. At least I'm raking in the moolah! I'm working 32 hours this week alone so it'll be nice not having 11 cents (yes, you read that right) in my bank account like I did two weeks ago.

I am now off to catch up on many West Wing episodes that I have sadly missed out on due to work!

THAT HYPOCRITICAL POST

So today is Valentine's Day. A year since I wrote 'THE BENEFITS OF BEING FOREVER ALONE' (Click here to re-read it and cringe/laugh).

Last month my friend re-discovered this post and linked it to me asking if "my opinion had changed". WELL. I stand by what I wrote about Valentine's Day is a highly commercial 'Singles Awareness Day'. This is still the case. I know it sounds cheesy, but if you're in a happy relationship then you show them how much you appreciate them every day, not just February the 14th. That said, since it's the first Valentine's Day I've had with my boyfriend (even though he was mine two years ago but that doesn't count) IT HAS BEEN SO FUN PUTTING TOGETHER A PRESENT! This Valentine's Day is going to be spent working (kill me now please), so I'll be wearing a cute red ribbon and red lipstick in a sad attempt to rise to the occasion. TOMORROW is my real Valentine's Day-my boyfriend is coming up to visit and I FINALLY GET TO GIVE HIM HIS PRESENT. #CAN'TWAIT

OTHER THINGS GOING ON IN MY LIFE:
-The last week has been spent working A LOT. As in four days in a row opening until close. Hello Macbook Air that I've been saving up for! I've been working so much that I haven't even been able to watch West Wing. Oh the horror!
-Eating Moochi. Last week they started a promotional 'happy hour' from 3-5 every weekday where if you show your student ID card you get three free toppings. Hell has broken loose.
-Getting excited about my 19th birthday next week even though I'm working all day #woo
-FINALLY finishing enrolling in all my uni subjects for this semester.
-Listening to this song on repeat

IT'S LOVE

1. LOVING my new job. I worked from opening until closing yesterday and it went so fast. Maybe because when I wasn't serving customers I was choosing which bag to spend my pay check on...and what flavoured Moochi I should buy in my break.
2. LOVING my new bag. Upon purchasing this bag I realised that there is nothing quite like buying a brand new bag. I have officially decided that it is better than buying new clothes and shoes, and I've been trying to work out why. So far the only reason I've been able to come up with is "just because". That's a good enough reason.
3. LOVING the cold weather. When the weather got cold two days ago I went totally overboard and did a classic "Chloe"-threw on my jeans, jumper, coat AND beanie to embrace my favourite weather, only to go outside and walk a couple of hundred metres and realise that I overdid it and will be consequently boiling for the rest of the day.
4. LOVING that I'm going to Q&A with Phoebe tomorrow night. For those who don't watch the show, tomorrow night turn on ABC and whip out your phone/laptop to live tweet. I'll probably be famous after being in the studio audience but don't worry, I'll keep updating my blog after I've won the Oscar.
5. LOVING the fact that I'm going back on the country train for another adventure this week to see someone special (wink wink) who I have spent two weeks missing.
6. LOVING WEST WING. I have spent the past week watching it religiously and I DON'T EVEN CARE. It just keeps getting better and better, and some dialogue is so funny that I rewind it to laugh again, and then rewind it a second time and force Phoebe to watch it and to laugh too.

I tried to get this list to ten points but I feel as though enjoying your job, new bags, being reunited with your special friend, West Wing, cold weather and Q&A are awesome enough.

I am now off to watch West Wing in my penguin onesie. Not predictable at ALL.

Chloe x

P.S. I thought I'd leave you all with a video that made me laugh so hard I had tears-Mrs Doubtfire cut into a trailer that makes it look like a horror movie. Watch and enjoy.

I LOVE MOOCHI.

I have decided that I will use this space today to declare my love Moochi. "What is Moochi?" I hear you asking from behind your computer screen. Uhmm no big deal-JUST THE MOST AMAZING FROZEN YOGURT AND TOPPING IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE AND IT'S SURROUNDINGS.

For the best and most accurate description of Moochi's insane amazingness, I took to their official Twitter page. They describe it as "Natural frozen yogurt goodness and a guilt free desert". For now, let's forget that their official Twitter page HASN'T spelt dessert "desert" so it sounds like they're talking about a guilt free sandy landscape. The yogurt and the toppings are so completely amazing, and what's better is that YOU FEEL SOMEWHAT HEALTHY WHEN YOU'RE EATING IT BECAUSE IT'S YOGURT AND NOT ICE CREAM! It's a win-win.

My love affair with Moochi began last week when my co-worker was telling me about it and came back to the store with a large one for me. It had coconut and mango flavoured frozen yogurts, with granola and strawberries as toppings. It was love at first sight. #NOREGRETS.

I hope you are all doing well AND that if you live in Australia, you had a pleasant and chill 'Straya Day. I sure did.

Love,
Chloe x

The one where Chloe tries new things

So there I was, sitting in a very nice Italian restaurant with my grandparents and Phoebe, when I was about to say my order to the waiter.
Phoebe: What are you getting Chloe?
Me: My default Italian order. Spag Bol. Ya know it brah.
Phoebe: Are you joking? Get something else for once? 2013 IS ABOUT TRYING NEW THINGS.
Me:
Phoebe:
Me: OKAY OKAY I'LL GET THE FETTUCCINE.

The dialogue above and my actions that followed it are significant for two key reasons. Firstly, I never order anything at Italian other than Spag Bol. It's just what I do. Secondly, the Fettuccine had a mushroom sauce. Anyone who knows me well knows that Chloe and Mushrooms have had a long-running biff since birth. And I ordered a dish with mushroom sauce. I think I deserve some kind of medal or something.

In other news:
1. I saw the movie 'Hitchcock' that same night with my Grandparents. As amazing as the acting performances were, it just wasn't memorable. It was well made, but when it ended and the credits began to roll I wasn't sitting there thinking "WOW MIND BLOWN ZOMG! SAH AMAZING LIFE CHANGED"
2. I started my new job today! IT IS SO MUCH FUN. It went by so fast that before I knew it my first shift was over, and I am now sitting at home awaiting my pasta bake (currently in the oven-yes, I figured out how to turn it on) and Sex and The City.

Things I have done since my last update

1. Gotten obsessed with The West Wing. Phoebe became addicted to it a couple of weeks ago and has been nagging me to watch it ever since. Two nights ago I finally caved in and watch the first episode...and now I can't stop watching it. It is TOO fantastic. There should be some sort of medication to help people like Phoebe and I who cannot physically stop ourselves watching it.
2. I have been applying for other jobs since General Pants finished up last week, and I have a final interview today/sorting out paperwork for a new job this afternoon so I think this is a good sign! Fingers crossed.
3. I went on an adventure to my boyfriend's hometown for a visit. It was pretty spontaneous (by my standard's anyway), and I must say I felt pretty excited/awesome/independent/totes mature as I made my way across the CountryLink platforms at Central Station to get on board the train for the three hour journey. I had a great time-I really do love going on adventures-especially when your company is a pretty awesome person ;).
4. I've started having baths again. It all started last week when I was really stressed out and the next minute I had hopped into the burning hot bath (I love burning hot baths and showers by the way). Since then I have been having them every night, with my pink fluffy dressing gown waiting for me when I step out, and a sign on the door saying "CHLOE IN BATH-DO NOT DISTURB".
5. I'm obsessed with Bircher Museli. I don't know what it is about it but I cannot stop eating it at Edmonds and Greer and it is like a daily punch to my bank account.

I hope you all are enjoying this lovely weather (if you live in Sydney anyway!).
Muchos love,
Chloe x

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I looked at the date on my phone today as I rolled out of bed...to see that it is already eight days into the new year! After thinking to myself how fast the first few days of this year have gone, my next thought was "I HAVEN'T UPDATED FLOWER GIRL SINCE LAST YEAR!". I felt like a bad mother, so here I am. Lots has happened so I shall pick the best bits that will (hopefully, fingers crossed) interest you all.

1. NYE: New Years Eve for 2012 has nestled up the top of the list of my favourite NYE's ever. Phoebe, Eleni, ma boyfwend and I headed into Pyrmont to meet friends. We attempted to pack some sort of picnic-thing that consisted of champagne, cider, cheese, biscuits, a loaf of olive bread, and beach towels (we couldn't find a picnic rug so these were the next best thing). I didn't know what the view of the Harbour Bridge would be like from the park we were going to, and when we arrived I was BLOWN AWAY (half because of the view, and half because of the wind which was a constant reminder that I should have worn a jumpsuit instead of a dress). We got there in the late afternoon, and our company was so great that time FLEW and before we knew it, the 9.00pm fireworks were going off. Time flew even faster after that, and it wasn't long before it was thirty minutes until the new year, and I found myself saying goodbye to 2012. All thoughts going on in my head soon made way for excitement when the countdown started, followed by the most EPIC fireworks....and midnight kiss (I was dipped back so far that my sunnies fell off #truestory). We then hung around a bit, walked to Central Station, and headed home to snuggle up in bed for the first time in 2013.

2. TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB: What can I say about this...except that it was probably one of the BEST POSSIBLE WAYS TO START 2013! We lined up to be at the front of the mosh, however greatly regretted doing so at the start of Jungle Giants (the first supporting act). There are psycho moshes, then there was this mosh. I couldn't even hear the music as I was TRYING SO HARD TO STAY ALIVE! Following this act, we danced on the edges of the mosh (where we could breath). I've never heard any music by The Vaccines before, and I was pleasantly surprised-it was really fun. Then, at 10.00pm, TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB CAME ON STAGE. It was so crazy hearing live both the songs that got me through my last year of high school AND the songs from Beacon which defined my first year of university. Two Door live exceeded every single expectation and I had a BLAST. I've attached a video below of where I was (not my video though!).

3. APPLYING: I have spent the last couple of days emailing just about every single advertising agency there is in Sydney asking about internships/work experience. Fingers (and toes) crossed!

I am now sitting at home bracing myself for the heat wave that's supposed to hit Sydney in roughly thirty four minutes. It's supposed to hit 43 degrees, and this means that it is too hot to walk and get coffee #sadness. I hope you all have a splendid day, and we shall speak again soon.

Until then,
Chloe x

2012: The year that was

On the final page of my diary for last year, I had written 2012 IS GOING TO BE THE BEST YEAR EVER! Little did I know that it was going to be just that, and maybe even a little bit more. This year has undeniably been the best of my life thus far.

First and foremost, I was thrown out of high school and into university, and unsure of whether I'd enjoy it or not. Fast-forward two semesters and I am absolutely in love with my uni and am really enjoying my course. One of my new year's resolutions was to get involved with uni life, and I feel as though having the opportunity to co-host a weekly radio show really ticks that box! I was given so many amazing opportunities that I am SO thankful for, and I feel so incredibly happy that I made the right decision in terms of universities/courses, especially when making the decision was a difficult one. Also, my awesome new friends aren't too bad either ;)

Another new year's resolution was to achieve something this year that I should be really proud of. Getting the internship at McCann in my first semester was SUCH an amazing opportunity, and I am so thankful for my six months there. It is without a doubt the thing I am most proud of this year, and it undoubtedly gave me an INSANE amount of direction in terms of future careers.

 OTHER HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS YEAR:
1. Having an amazing family who continue to love and support me in all that I do
2. Relaxing getaways to Broulee
3. Getting an awesome job at General Pants
4. Being very satisfied with my university results
5. Coldplay-ABSOLUTELY EPIC
6. Five perfect months together with an equally perfect individual, with whom MANY of the best moments of the year were shared with. I love having someone in my life like him who makes me SO incredibly happy....and giggle a shocking amount!
7. Got my L's (another new year resolution)
8. Random night meeting One Direction (yes, I'm over them BUT IT WAS FUN/COOL OK?? Plz don't judge)
9. Turning 18 and having an awesome surprise party. Being 18 has made me feel more like an adult, but I realised I haven't matured that much when I found myself out for dinner last night making walrus teeth with my chopsticks
10. Surviving the apocalypse
11. Having one of my oldest friends MOVE TO SYDNEY!

I'd say that next year won't be able to beat this year, but throughout this year I realised that your year is truly what you make of it. When making decisions throughout 2012 I couldn't help but think back to a word of advice that Phoebe said in Friends-"It's up to you to make things happen". I like that feeling-it's so reassuring. Knowing not to be sad that a great year is nearly finished passing by, because if you throw yourself out there and MAKE things happen, then next year has the potential to be the best of your life. I hope that line from Friends will be as valuable to you next year as it was to me throughout the duration of 2012.

I hope my reflections on passing years stays like this-every year being able to say that that particular year was the best of my life.

Thanks for another year of your support,
ChlobeWan x

WOW.

It has been a while since I last updated this blog. Time really flies when you're having fun, Christmas and working!

THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED SINCE I LAST UPDATED:
-My Christmas Eve was absolutely BRILLIANT! I was rostered on to work until 7pm, which meant that I couldn't go to my Nan's Christmas Eve dinner until pretty late. WELL. The night before, my boss texted me saying that I wasn't needed to work on Christmas Eve anymore. It was kind of like an early Christmas present. At my Nan's we ate lots of food, drank yummy drinks, I wore my penguin onesie that my insanely amazing boyfriend gave to me, danced to old Christmas carols, caught up with my awesome cousin who I haven't seen in YONKS and even exchanged some early gifts!
-Christmas Day was equally brilliant. My little brother woke me up at 5.30am and we sat on my bed impatiently until 6am when our parents said we were all allowed downstairs. My favourite present was undoubtedly my AWESOME Nixon watch. It is so pretty and shiny and I haven't taken it off since. We had such a nice day too-our family came to ours and Mum and I made the dining table look gorgeous with decorations. There was so much delicious food, and I ate so much that dinner didn't even cross my mind later that night because I was full to the next decade. All in all it was one of those FANTASTIC Christmas days that hold a special place in your heart.
-I awoke bright and early to tackle the Boxing Day sales. I was pretty reluctant going in at first, but Phoebe forced me to come. BOY AM I GLAD SHE FORCED ME. I think it's safe to say I went nuts. I bought sunnies, makeup, two dresses, two jumpsuits, shorts. jeans, two bras, two shirts and two pairs of shoes. One of these pairs of shoes, may I add, are from Topshop, are real leather boots AND were only $60. Oh, and they were the last pair in my size. Go me.
-Yesterday was the first day my General Pants store was open post-Christmas, and it was CRAZY. I worked 10-6, and there wasn't one moment where I could stand still, not even my break. Getting into bed last night was quite an amazing experience.

So there you have it folks. I have been pretty busy, and I'm assuming you all have been too. For now, I'm off to work, then tomorrow I'm working again, and then I'm going to post my annual NYE POST for 2012, then head of to NYE which will be fantabulous. OH. AND TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB MAY OR MAY NOT BE NEXT THURSDAY. AHHHHH!

Love,
Chloe x

More Christmas and summery things

Over the past week I FINALLY DRAGGED MY ASS TO THE BEACH! I woke up bright and early (11am) and caught the train to Cronulla, bought my first Mango Magic from Boost for the summer, and met friends at the wharf to catch the cute little ferry to Bundeena. I decided it isn't Summer until you've been to Bundeena, or whatever your town's beachy/heavenly paradise equivalent is. When we arrived there, there were a few clouds around so began to eat the cute little picnic that the girls packed, including the most DELICIOUS pesto salad. Suddenly the sun came out, and I literally ripped my dress and sunglasses off and made a run for the Bundeena wharf which I proceeded to jump off. The water was really blue, and when I swam back up to the surface and realised how deep I was, I will admit that I had a minor freak out as my mind flashed back to the hours of shark attack documentaries that I watched last week (I'm looking at YOU Shark Week on Discovery Channel!) . I swam back up to the wharf and climbed up and out so fast that I nearly flashed a group of young boys sitting on it. #YOLO

I've also been spending a little too much time Christmas shopping. Now that I'm earning proper moolah, I'm spending LOTS of moolah. I'm one of those people who just LOVES thinking of presents for people and buying them, and that's precisely what I've spent much of my time doing over the past few days. No other family members have room to put their own presents under the tree now because my (crappily wrapped) presents have taken up all the room. If I were them I wouldn't be complaining. My house actually looks like Santa and his elves vomited all over it (in an awesomely cool way of course)-we have our amazing tree with beautiful fairy lights, Christmas decorations EVERYWHERE, an insane advent calender that is hung above a massive window, fairy lights both INSIDE (really cute holly situated above the sliding doors) and outside and IT JUST LOOKS SO CHRISTMASY. Love it. I also may or may not have written my letter to Santa. This Christmas is going to be great.

Carols in the Domain is coming up which I am VERY excited about. I may be working for six and a half hours before hand and babysitting before I even start work but NOTHING CAN GET IN THE WAY OF MY LOVE FOR CAROLS IN THE DOMAIN. Even if the whole city was put into a massive security lock down and it was called off, you'd still find me sitting in the Domain on my picnic rug with my Christmas tree sunglasses. And, to top it off, it's the original Wiggles' last ever television appearance. I know that they will still be around, with the new female Wiggle, but that is basically like having a guy in the Spice Girls. No.

Also, over the past few days I've also begun to write my NYE post for this year. SO much has happened-it really has just been the greatest year. I hope it was the same for all of you and that next year is even more amazing.

Chloe x

P.S. I'm working when the world is due to 'end'. At least I'll be at General Pants and will thus die around amazing clothes. Right? RIGHT?!!?

P.P.S. I'll leave you with this photo that made me laugh out loud an insane amount.

Christmas spirit

I have exciting news. I AM OFFICIALLY IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT. The annual transition occurred whilst I was sitting at the local Christmas carols WHILE the fire works were going off. I was decked out with red lipstick, and wearing a Christmas shirt (my General Pants Christmas one), Santa earrings and Christmas tree glasses. It was quite a sight. Following the carols my family and I hopped in the car and did our annual Christmas lights drive while playing Michael Buble's Christmas CD. I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I think it's time to buy more presents and watch more Christmas movies (I'm looking at YOU Polar Express, Elf and Love Actually).

In other news, I saw the movie Pitch Perfect. Needless to say, it was perfect. As in PERFECT. It was SO much fun without being (too) stupid, and even an hour after seeing it I was still smiling. I'm still listening to the sound track a week later.

THINGS COMING UP:
-Writing Santa letter (this is an event that is never going to stop)
-Santa photo (again, this is an event that is never going to stop)
-Carols in the Domain
-Seeing Pitch Perfect again
-Street Christmas Party
-Summer cocktails at Opera Bar
-BEACH (can the sun please pay a visit to Sydney already?)
-Spending more earnings at General Pants
-Being Christmas-y
-L'S TEST AT 4.00 PM ON FRIDAY. Better late than never, right? RIGHT?!

If you're not in the Christmas spirit yet, just turn your volume up full blast and click play to the video below. I have decided that it is Christmas Eve in a song.

SUMMER

Things I have gone and done in the first five days of Summer:
1. Saw Perks of being a Wallflower. [Spoilers]. In summary, let's just say that the ads before the movie were more engaging than the film. The characters didn't have depth (except for Patrick and Charlie) which made it hard to care about them, the majority of the dialogue fell flat, the random philosophical one-liners like "We accept the love we think we deserve" along the normal dialogue was like a kid in year nine doing an English exam and finally remembering a smart sentence they had memorised, Emma Watson's American accent (enough said), the story was too slow, and finally, the story-line where Charlie was abused by his Auntie was just way too obvious in the movie. What worked for the book was that it was really subtle and was pretty much left to the reader to put two and two together. I wish I could say the book was better but they're pretty much just the same as each other. That said, Ezra Miller was INCREDIBLE as Patrick and was undoubtedly the best thing about the movie.
2. THE CHRISTMAS TREE IS UP! It looks amazing, and the whole house smells like THIS beautiful Christmas Party Glasshouse Candle which has infected me with the Christmas spirit. Now time to start Christmas shopping!
3. I've been buying way too many things from General Pants-the staff discount has brought me off the rails. Most recently I bought THESE beauties which are working quite a treat. I even managed to hike up some giant rocks without even breaking them/getting a scratch. If that's not the perfect customer review I don't know what is.
4. Had a perfect night to kick off Summer. Sat on a wharf with le Special Someone eating Pad Thai in a summery dress as the sun set. Then a boat went past playing pretty music. Wondering if any other Summer nights this season will beat it.
5. I was shopping the other day (OH THE HORROR?????!) and in Kikki K and nearly died from an overdose of amazing potential Christmas presents. Also, seeing all the 2013 Diaries got me SO PUMPED FOR NEXT YEAR. There's nothing quite like having the clock tick over to a new year and having a fresh diary with empty pages. Even though this year has been one of the best of my life, I am so incredibly excited for next year!

SKYFALL

For winning 'Highest Rated Program' on SURG FM, Alisha and I won two Dendy vouchers. Last night we used them, and I watched my first ever James Bond film. MAY I JUST SAY THAT SKYFALL IS AMAZING. I might even go as far to say that it is amazingly amazing. Being a person whose movie life is characterised by crappy romantic comedies, Skyfall blew me away. I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time...except in the scary parts where I was slouched with the popcorn box in front of my face. I will definitely be forcing my Dad to come and see it again with me!

OTHER THINGS:
1. I have been on holidays for a whole week and am yet to go to the beach
2. Working at General Pants is a lot of fun, and getting the staff discount makes my eyes turn into rainbows
3. Two Door Cinema Club's album 'Beacon' is my official December soundtrack...and will probably end up being my January soundtrack too seeing as though I'm seeing them live on the 3rd of that month (best way to start 2013, no?)
4. Bought leather shorts. Enough said.
5. It's December tomorrow. BRING ON THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT! In the first days of December I'm already going to a Christmas carols night AND a gingerbread house making night. There is nothing quite like Chloe high on Christmas spirit

ZOMG HOLIDAYS

So my first year of university has officially come to a close, and holidays have officially arrived. The best part about exams finishing was the fact that I thought that the final exam would be the death of me, and it didn't turn out to be that bad. WOOT.

This year went so fast, but somehow I managed to do SO MANY THINGS. I absolutely love my university-I actually could not imagine myself anywhere else. It's so beautiful and it just has such a FANTASTIC vibe. Its prettiness doesn't hurt either. I love my course, loved having a radio show, loved campaigning and getting involved in the elections, loved interning, and met SO many new people both within uni and outside of it, many of whom I know I'll be friends with for life!

So yeah, now I'm on holidays. I finished on Wednesday afternoon, went for celebratory hot chips and cider at Manning with media friends, and then yesterday HAD TRAINING FOR GENERAL PANTS FROM 9-5! It was a long day, but at least it was fun AND paid ;). Today is my first proper full day of relaxing, so I'm off for brunch with a friend, then chilling for the rest of the day before going out for dinner. I'VE MISSED THIS STRESS-FREE LIFEEE!

I am now off to go for a run with my dog, because the start of holidays means the start of CHLOE BEING HEALTHY! For the sake of this healthy-program, pretend that I didn't just have a couple of white chocolate cookies for breakfast.

Hope you all are splendid,
Chloe

Deary me.

Last night I made the mistake of agreeing to go and see the final instalment of the Twilight Saga with friends. I had $25 to last me until Monday, so I really hoped that spending $14.50 on this film would be worth it. Now I'm not implying that I wasn't obsessed with the franchise when I was in year 8/9. I am not implying that I regret watching the first film eight times (yes, eight...#noregrets). But wow. This film. It was so bad. As in so, so bad. Let's deconstruct, shall we? (Spoilers alert-shame on you though if you care)

-The random opening sequence: The film opens with a random collection of tacky helicopter shots over mountains and rivers. It tries to be artsy by tinting these images in red and white, but ends up looking like the videos I used to make with heaps of random effects when I was fourteen.

-How their kid was conceived: Edward has been 'frozen' for a hundred years. He doesn't BREATHE, his heart doesn't beat and his blood does not circulate. Even though I had read the books, it only occured to me that this child's existence is LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE. No, I did not do science in senior high school but STEPHANIE MEYER WHY WOULD YOU NOT RECOGNISE THE STUPIDITY OF THE CREATION OF THIS CHILD? Moreover, throughout the majority of the film, Edward just blabs on and on about how she is "half mortal, half immortal". Mate, you realise that doesn't even make sense?

-The acting: It  was most as if they were making fun of themselves. I love Michael Sheen, but his performance as the 'evil vampire' literally had me in tears. Tears as a result of both laughter and excessive cringing. His creepy "BEELL-AAAAHHHH" and subsequent evil laugh at the end of the film had me laughing with stitches coming in waves. Also, Edward and Bella are just dead-pan throughout the entire duration of the film. You'd think that they could afford to spend a small portion of their $43849328403 million salaries on acting classes.

-The costumes: The wigs looked like the ones you try on at the Easter Show (Rosalie's in particular). Also, the costume of one of the random visiting vampires, (who was 'Amazonian') looked like it had been picked up from the $2 shop near my house-perhaps a costume called "Adult Pocahontas Halloween-Female".  Oh, and her hair and make up just made her look like Tyra Banks. SMILE WIT UR EYEZ.

-The random/awkward sex scene: I think "random/awkward sex scene" says it all to be honest. The dialogue was just the cherry on the cake.
Bella: Edward, why is there a bed? Vampires don't sleep
Edward: The bed isn't made for sleeping....eh eh eh

-The 'mind-fuck' bit near the end of the film: You won't understand what I'm talking about until you've seen it (which I advise you not to), but there's a moment at the end that is basically a random movie version of  ''and then I woke up and it was all a dream". Yes, when it happened I was like WHAAT. But then it was obvious that they only did it to make the film movie-length/fulfill the budget. So unnecessary..

-That first hunting scene: Sorry, what? The whole time I was watching that scene I was cringing so hard that it felt like my stomach was eating itself. Kirsten Stewart pretending that she is a blood-thirsty newborn vampire is really a sight to see. Almost makes the $14.50 worth it. Almost.

-The storyline: When I came out of the movie, my first thought after "Where can I get a refund"  was "what even happened?". Bella woke up, went for that weird-ass hunt, and then the rest of the film is them awkwardly waiting around for the Volturi to come. When they EVENTUALLY come, they are just like "peace out everyone be friends"....and then that's the end of the movie.

IN OTHER NEWS:1. I have three more exams left and cannot WAIT for them to be over. Marketing and media x2, COME AT ME
2. I have been re-reading old blog posts which is an exceptional form of procrastination
3. Counting down the days until Coldplay on Sunday night (yes, I got my ticket back. Long story)
4. Study
5. Having a series of awesome baths. I have a new routine where I make it burning hot, add bubble bath liquid, turn off the lights, burn Mum's amazing Glasshouse candle, and eat chocolate mousse. Kind of gets me through all this study.

Hope you are all splendid,

Victoria's Secret

A couple of nights ago, I logged into Facebook to discover that my newsfeed had been infected by a disease. A disease called the Victoria's Secret annual fashion show.

I'm sorry (actually, I'm not sorry), but what are these girls doing? Walking down a catwalk with seedy businessmen seated in the front row shopping for a new trophy girlfriend. Yes, girls, you're hot, but BOY do you know it. You know it so well that you make me want to stick pins in my eyes and throw a brick at my head. I would rather watch slugs humping than watch that entire fashion show.

I will admit that I've been to Victoria's Secret in the States. Really nice bras. But those models, my god. There are models, and then there are the Victoria's Secret "angels". That show is purely a convention for the most incredibly vain women on the planet. They say "I got discovered xoxoxox". No, you think you're the biggest babe on the planet, and you were so confident in your hottness that you initiated a modelling career. You look at women out there changing the world, fighting for justice; girls fighting for an education in third-world countries, and then you look at these girls shaking their vain asses in front of the world. Kudos.

"YEAH GURLZ! WE'RE CHANGING DA WELRD ONE CATWALK AT A TYME! OXOXOXX"

"TYME FOR OUR HAVIN FUN FACESZ!! YEH I GOT BULLIED IN SCHOOL DUUN EVA BULLY PEOPLE!"

"TYME TO SHOW OFF MA BOOTY TO GUARANTEE NEXT JOB!!! TEHEZZZ MY CAREER IS GUNNA ENDING IN 2 YEARZZZZZ "

Disgusted

I am so astonished that this clip was aired on A Current Affair that I couldn't NOT post about it on this blog. It actually shocked me right to my bone that racism to this degree not only remains still exists modern, multicultural Australia, but that journalism of this calibre would be displayed on national television. Even though they already don't have the respect of any Australians with half a brain, A Current Affair should be ashamed for such racist "journalism". Also, the citizens in this video should just dig a hole and consider staying there until they get their heads out of their asses. Click here to watch the video.

IN OTHER NEWS:
I have literally been studying every day, eating too many Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, buying Mum an epic birthday present, wishing that the holidays would just come already, listening to weird-ass relaxing videos in an attempt to minimise stress-levels, getting excited about Two Door Cinema Club despite the concert being two months away, NOT reading the Casual Vacancy, drinking too much coffee/Irish Breakfast and going through lots and lots of packets of Tiny Teddies because I'm a cool 18 year old.

TEENAGE DREAM

Can everyone please appreciate the video I have posted below. Best cover ever or best cover ever? Darren Criss' first cover was good enough, but this is just fjsiodfjiosdjfisdojfiosd. Darren Criss + acoustic = TEARZ.

I've had a really busy week studying for exams, finishing off the radio show, and awaiting the three month break that is almost within arm's reach. ALMOST. Last night I spent some time with my own teenage dream (eating many equally dreamy Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and listening to equally dreamy music), and tonight I'm off to a ball. I lead a really tough life.

Expect a mega-post tomorrow that WON'T involve my ultimate dinner party list, because I cannot find the sheet of paper in my room with it written on it so I'm starting from scratch (hopefully it will be bigger and better). Apologies to the people who message me on Tumblr reminding me to post it-I LOST IT BECAUSE I'M SO ORGANISED LIKE THAT. No fear-this one will be bigger and better.

Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend,
ChlobeWan

I just dun get it.

So after a lovely harbour cruise that Eleni's mother kindly gave a couple of us tickets to, we hit up the Museum of Contemporary Art. Being the relatively uncultured person I am, I found some of the art more funny than Tim Minchin. I tried as hard as I could to appreciate the art, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get thoughts like "I COULD HAVE DONE THAT WHEN I WAS ONE YEAR OLD" and "THEY ARE SCRIBBLES. SCRIBBLES!/!/!?!??!" out of my head.

Take the 'art' I've posted below for example. It was in the centre of the room and was called "MY LIFE IN NUTS". The text accompanying it said that it took the artist a long time to come up with the concept. It's a pile of nuts. A. PILE. OF. NUTS. Nothing more, nothing less. Upon first glance I was really impressed because I thought that the nuts were made by the artist-they looked so realistic that it was pretty insane. I then read the text to discover that no, they were in fact nuts. That's why they looked so much like nuts-they were nuts.  If anyone can explain to me the significance of this pile of nuts/modern art in general, feel free to email me at the email address on the 'CONTACT ME' page. Much appreciated.

Things I don't understand:

1. Why the pink cupcakes I always get from my local bakery went up in price by 30 cents. Like why. WHY????????!!
2. Why more people don't play Fruit Ninja with their iPhone upside down. So much no-gravity-goodness that is yet to be discovered by so many
3. Why people buy iPhones. They're $800 pieces of crap
4. Everyone's obsession with Gangnam Style. The first time I saw it I was like 'Yep that's solid K-Pop'. Now it's absolutely everywhere AND I AM SUFFOCATING. Every TV, every Facebook page, every newspaper and every radio station. Have people never heard K-Pop before?? There is music more hilarious than that. Also, is he going to just attempt and capitalize off that song until he dies? I'm glad I got this rant off my chest. Psy can P-iss-off.
5. How Phoebe managed to score a third-round invitation to Diner En Blanc. When she called me telling me that I could be her plus one, this was my reaction (click here). If you don't know what Diner En Blanc is, I would definitely recommend Google-ing it so you can be extremely jealous. Basically it's a flash-mob style white-themed dinner party (so many people sign up to try and get invited that there were 31, 000 people on the waiting list for the one in New York). It's so secret that Phoebe doesn't find out the location until an hour before hand. Problem is my whole wardrobe is black, so I need to venture out into white-clothed-territory. I'll keep you posted on how that goes
6. WHY I CAN'T FIND MY DAMN DINNER PARTY LIST. I've checked everywhere in my room twice but shall triple check this afternoon. Clearly I'm really organised.

OTHER THINGS GOING ON IN MY LIFE
-Had a perfect Friday night
-Got a job at General Pants
-Drinking too many Boost juices
-Dad came back from New York and got me NYU and Columbia t-shirts and track pants.

Watch this if you want to be turned off burritos for life

I warned you. Phoebe showed me this last night...and I can safely say I don't think I'll be eating burritos for a couple of centuries. And maybe a couple of centuries after that.

L'amour

Let's just say that this week was significantly better than the last.

P.S. I know I've been saying I'll post my 'CHLOE'S AMAZING ULTIMATE DINNER PARTY' list for the last century and a half, but I'll actually dig it out tonight and post it tomorrow! Here's hoping my little note with scribbled names hasn't been chucked out. Fingers crossed (because that list was dayum finee).

I'll leave you to enjoy a song I'm in love with.

The one where Chloe had a terrible week

You know those weeks where so many bad things happen that you keep thinking to your self "can this week get any worse", and then it does? The week that has just ended was one of those weeks for me. It was so bad that Phoebe lent me money. That's saying something. Allow me to tell you about CHLOE'S TERRIBLE WEEK 2012.

1. It all began after Saturday night when I got into a little bit of a pickle with the parentals (make that a pretty large pickle...with chilli sauce). Got grounded and my coveted Coldplay ticket got given away (they did buy it for me after all). Yep, the ticket to the concert that is written in giant letters on the calender plastered on my wall as 'COLDPLAY AND TEMPER TRAP OMGOMGOMGOGM', and the concert I always wrote about on here because I liked rubbing it in your face that I was going (I blame it on my excitement). Well who got the last laugh? NOT MEEEEEEE! HAHAHAHA. HAHA. HA. WAH.
2. Failed my first uni assignment. At this point I was already having a terrible week (see above), so this was like a big fat poisonous cherry on top of a disgusting cake (let's make it a lemon, pecan and eggplant cake with oil icing).
3. Spent all my money on comfort food and coffee, then woke up on Thursday to realise that Topshop was opening that day, and that I had 80 cents in my wallet. Loving life!
4. After thinking to myself "I wonder what could happen to make this week worse", I got to my Myer interview at 3pm on Friday to discover that I misread the email...and the reminder email...and that it instead had started at 2! Go me!
5. I was at my friend Beth's house on Friday night for a much needed cheering up session (this involved Paul's Famous Hamburgers and Crazy Stupid Love). We decided that my terrible week had officially ended. After saying this, I hopped onto the bed and smacked my knee on the corner so hard that a not-so-lovely, big fat bruise began to appear after less than a minute. THANKS KARMA?
6. Gangam Style won't stop playing everywhere and it's driving me insane. If was kind of funny the first time I saw it, but what is with everyone's weird obsession with it?

I believe that the government should give out financial scholarships to people who have weeks like mine. I'm walking a 'DEVO WEEK SCHOLARSHIP', where you fill out a criteria that you submit to the government (like my five points above), and if they agree that your week was terrible they give you money to do something nice over the weekend. I feel that this would be a fantastic initiative, and I plan to write a passionate letter to Julia Gillard.

Much love,
Chloe x

Take your 'judging cap' off for when I tell you that:

THIS SONG AND MUSIC VIDEO MADE MY CRAPPY DAY SO MUCH BETTER. It's so catchy and the video clip is hilarious. Always love a bit of T-Swizzle.

The Casual Vacancy

After somehow magically finishing my assignments due this week two days earlier than my To-Do list had scheduled, I found myself wandering around the city thinking of things to do. One of my shoes broke whilst wandering, so that was a nice excuse to buy a new pair of loafers. 20 minutes later I walked past Dymocks, and $28 later I had The Casual Vacancy in my hands (J.K. Rowling's new book). I spent the rest of the warm afternoon reading it in Hyde Park...well, the book had half of my attention. The other half of my attention belonged to the three tweenagers conducting an awkward photo-shoot (which included pulling sultry faces whilst holding a tree). It was the perfect way to end the mid-semester break.

I am currently faced with a really profound dilemma. Topshop is opening on Thursday morning, and I have $15 in my wallet. My plan is to either camp out to receive freebies (this is looking unlikely due to the fact that I have a media assessment that day), or just go in and take photos of things to buy when I actually have cash, and wallow at the fact that I spend all my money on coffee. The latter is looking far more likely at this point in time. I'll let you know how it goes. Probably not too well, judging by the outcomes of most things I attempt.

I am now off to pretend that I didn't waste all my money today, listen to Muse's new album for the trillionth time, drink some Green Tea (it makes me feel less guilty about being addicted to coffee), read some more of The Casual Vacancy, continue to be happy that the Sydney Swans won the grand final, and jam out a bit more to Muse's new album (I really like it in case you can't tell).

Love,
Chloe

Big Freeze.

"We destroyed something beautiful.
We have faith, but our truths are not the same.
Don't give up, don't let the magic leave us,
Stop the loneliest force becoming the king of the universe"

THE 2ND LAW

So I'm currently listening to Muse's new album, and I have one thing to say: IT IS ABSOLUTELY INSANELY INCREDIBLY EPIC. I'm actually so happy right now-after hearing Unsustainable (dubstep..) and Survival (their song for the Olympics), both of which didn't really 'tickle maa fancy', the album is so...Muse. I love it.

That's my two cents worth.

THE WEEK THAT WAS.

So here is my second attempt at writing about last week. I have finally regained the energy to recount what I got up to during these past seven days, partly from the copious amounts of coffee I have consumed today, and partly from blasting One Direction's new song way too many times than what's considered appropriate for an eighteen year old. May I add that for an innocent boy band, I think it's absolutely hilarious that one of the lines in the song is "if we get together, don't let the pictures leave your phone". Nevertheless, it's a really catchy song, even if the thought of them makes you want to stick pins in your eyes. Click here to listen to it.

THINGS I WENTED AND DIDED IN THE PAST WEEK.
1. Watched the first episode of Downton Abbey season three. Matthew and Mary. Need I say more?
2. I interviewed an AMAZING professor at uni for an article I'm working on for my journalism unit. His name is John Keane, and I spent about an hour chatting to him in his amazing office above the quadrangle at my university (just think of Hogwarts and that's a pretty accurate picture!). He was named by The Times as one of Britain's leading political thinkers, and he is also a bestselling author...he saw me eyeing off some of his books on his bookshelves, and let me choose one which he continued to write a lovely message on the first page. He was so generous with his time-I got everything I needed for my article and more-and I left his office feeling so inspired! For those who are interested, I'll post a link to the article when I finish it!
3. Speaking of being in the presence of awesome people, interning on Friday afternoon wasn't too bad either. Basically I spent a couple of hours hearing the Global CEO of the advertising network I intern at talk about the future of advertising WHILE drinking some very nice champagne! As both a marketing student and someone who wants to go into advertising, it was SUCH an incredible opportunity to hear one of the leading figures in advertising speak! Six months ago I never would have thought that I would be experiencing that!
4. You know how a couple of posts ago I told you I was campaigning for JAM, a ticket running to be the editorial team of the Honi Soit, my university's student newspaper? WELL THEY WON! I'm so happy for them-they all really, really deserve it! Every ticket campaigned SO hard over this past week-you literally couldn't walk five metres without having a campaigner come up to you and start chatting about policy. So glad that Jam's efforts paid off!
5. When I was walking my dog with Phoebe today, we walked past a pre-school where a bunch of kids screaming things like "LOOK A WITTLE DOGGY!!!!!!!". We continued walking, and I stated 'With my patience, if I worked at a preschool I actually think my career would end in murdering one of those children'. To my horror, an old woman was standing next to me watering her garden, and gave me the mother of all grandma-dirties.

This week is my mid-semester break, but it actually isn't a break because of the amount of work I have to get done for uni. I am now off to watch the next episode of Downton Abbey and listen to One Direction's new song a couple hundred more times because I'm really cool like that.

Ciao,
Chloe

Saturday, September 22, 2012

Well that's great.

I just wrote an awesomely awesome mega-post on THE WEEK THAT WAS (this past week). Five paragraphs and a solid spell-check and edit later, I clicked 'POST'. Five minutes ago I got my blog up to double check that it posted. It didn't. And it didn't save as a draft either. Again, WHY WHY WHY do I have to be so technologically challenged? This is a question I struggle to answer every day of my life.

With my fingers exhausted from typing the post that never posted, I am going to post-pone my mega-update 2.0 until tomorrow. Life is tough when you're technologically handicapped.  For now, you should all go and either enjoy the sunshine or watch the latest episode of Downton Abbey. It's up to you. #YOLO.

Love,
Chloe

Life changing realisation

After exiting the lecture theatre yesterday following my hell of a Marketing exam, I headed straight for my favourite cafe at university to purchase some comfort food. I bought a brownie and a large coffee, and began to eat/sip them whilst being busy feeling sorry for myself and the marker who has the task of marking my paper. I then got on a bus to interning and bought another coffee and McDonalds (the ultimate 'Feeling Sorry For Yourself Comfort Food'). It was when I was walking down George Street, on my way to interning, clutching my Maccas and coffee which was spilling onto my feet, that I had an epiphany.

Eating crap makes me feel even more crap.

Yes. Mid way though eating my Chicken 'N' Cheese burger, with my coffee in my other hand, I realised "This food isn't making me feel any better about that exam. Now I feel crap about the exam, feel crap for eating crap, and feel crap for spending money on crap that has only made me feel more crap". Fast-forward 10 seconds and I had chucked these items in a bin and went and bought a Boost, which has fruit in it so in my eyes is healthy. Despite feeling guilty spending even more money, just eating something healthy made me feel good. My new philosophy is that if you eat good food you feel good. And by 'good' food I mean GOOD for the body, not necessarily for the taste-buds (I'm talking to you $2 Chicken 'N' Cheese burger). With the weather warming up I have officially initiated my 'EAT GOOD FEEL GOOD LOOK GOOD' program. We'll see how long this lasts. I bet 48 hours.

In other news, I went to a band competition at uni last night. My absolute favourite band of the night was Beaten Bodies, and being the annoying force-friends-to-listen-to-music-I-like-er I am, click here to listen to their single. Pronto. So good! And one of the guys who plays the saxophone does my course at uni. Another reason for you guys to check out their music!

Best movie. Best song.

Last night I rediscovered my love for the film He's Just Not That Into You. The couple in the clip below are one of my all-time favourite movie couples, so you can imagine my reaction when I realised that the song playing during their final scene is Somewhere Only We know. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Perfect song for a perfect couple.
Chloe over and out.

INSPIRED.

This sudden warm weather has made my happiness levels sky-rocket. To celebrate, Eleni and I undertook a much needed shopping expedition to the shopping centre near uni to stock up on some summer clothes. It turns out that shopping as a pair proved to be quite the money saver-there were tonnes of '2 for [insert price]' sales. Winning. Charlie Sheen style. Next step is NEW BIKINI which I am hoping to get this weekend, in time for our planned adventure to the beach next Wednesday night where we will sip some cider as the sun sets. If you can't tell from this paragraph, I am most definitely a Spring and Summer gal. AND PROUD OF IT.

This past week has been pretty chaotic. I know I always say that, but I preach tha truth sista. I got in the last of my media assignments (for a while) which nearly killed me (I'm never touching the Australian Film Industry ever again). Also, over the past few days I have been busy campaigning for VOICE (for SRC) and JAM (aspiring editors of Honi Soit-our student paper). So yeah, basically I'm a walking advertisement wearing their respective T-Shirts (on different days, of course), and just being all round awesome so people see me prancing around and think "DAYUM SHE IS SO COOL I'M SO VOTING FOR VOICE AND JAM WHERE IS THIS VOTING BOOTH???!!!!!!".

OTHER REASONS WHY I AM HAPPY AND INSPIRED:
-
Radio show is going super duperly awesome. Last week we had TWO callers to weigh in on our random debates! All of you should call up next week and make me even more happy. Like our show's page here.
-Warm weather
-Michelle Obama's kick-ass speech at the Democrat's convention. It was so incredibly inspiring! Click here to watch it.
-I bought a dress I had been eyeing for months on sale for $10!
-Warm weather
-I finally decided my essay topic for my Renaissance assessment. TIME TO GET CRACKING.
-The next season is Summer
-Lots of other things, including gradually becoming less attached to my Blackberry, being hooked on Puberty Blues (best show ever), having my first Easyway since the end of year 12, certain people (wink wink), coffee beans, power smoothies from my new favourite hipster cafe near uni, Muse's new album coming out next month, Two Door Cinema Club touring at the end of the year, and FINALLY being on top of Marketing..I never thought I'd see the day.

I am now off to listen to Passion Pit's new album for the 56983405982390423th time (I need an intervention people) and study a bit of Marketing. Then go to sleep in my SUMMER onsie because...you know...THE WEATHER IS WARM
